Little Sandy Creek Mitigation Bank provides stream and wetland mitigation credits for all types of stream, buffer, and freshwater wetland impacts in the Upper Ocmulgee River Service Area. The Bank is comprised of three phases totaling 880 acres with over 90,000 linear feet of streams draining to the Ocmulgee River.
The Bank was historically managed for agriculture which left the streams incised and degraded. Water on site was diverted away from wetlands, disrupting natural flow processes. Mitigation actions included Priority 1 and 2 channel and riparian restoration and preservation along 20 different streams. Additionally, hydrologic connectivity and vegetation were restored across 33 acres of wetland and 12 acres of functioning wetlands were preserved.
